Curbside Collection Will Be Held
Rain/Snow or Shine.
We Must Save & Recycle These Items:
** Each dwelling
unit will be given “Mahoning Township
Recycles”, 6 gallon recycling buckets. The following items are mandatory
recyclables.

Clear glass

Brown glass

Aluminum Cans
** Each type
of recyclables must be placed in a recycling bucket, if available, or can be
placed in a plastic bag and tied securely.

Rinse items, remove and discard
caps, and do not break glass.
We cannot
recycle drinking glasses, mirrors, plate glass, or light bulbs. |

Plastic Recycling Guidelines
Plastic No. 1 & 2 Clear and
Colored Bottles:
Rinse out bottles, remove lids, separate clear and colored. Separate 1s from
2s.

Clear:
milk, water jugs that have foggy appearance. Color: detergent bottles (i.e.:
Wisk, Tide, Clorox, Era, etc.)
Avoid All of the Following Bottles:
Any bottles having had motor oil,
anti-freeze, or any chemical agent in them, and vinyl bottles (i.e. soft
plastic squeeze bottles

Microwave trays, tub containers,
bottles with handles, containers with any pesticide or chemical agent |
**New
residents can pick up your recycling buckets at the Township Building Mon-Fri,
7am-3pm.

Recycling
Mahoning Township has a mandatory recycling program
with curbside collection, done in Zones A & B the
second consecutive Thursday and Friday of each month.
Recycling
brochures giving detailed information on the program are available at the Municipal Building.
Recycling
buckets may also be obtained at the building during regular business hours.
Commercial
business establishments situated within Mahoning Township
are required to set up their own recycling program and must submit evidence of
recycling arrangements and documentation of the tons of material recycled. New
businesses should register with the Township office.

Please Recycle!
Township
residents may also takes recyclables to JAWS Recycling on Railroad Street in Danville each Thursday from 9am-4pm. Township
residents may still take articles on Friday. However, Mahoning Township
will not get the credit.
**It is
mandatory for all property owners within the township to display the street
number of their house. This allows all emergency personnel to swiftly and
accurately determine proper identification in times of emergency. Numbers should be placed in a conspicuous
location of said property and not be less than three inches tall. They should
contrast in color with the background upon which they are affixed in order to
be legible from the abutting street, road, or highway.
Spring Clean-Up/Dumpster
Day
Mahoning Township holds an annual spring
clean-up/dumpster day, which is usually at the end of April.
Leaf Collection
Leaf
collection days are Monday-Friday 7am-3pm. The program begins in October and
continues through November.
Christmas Trees
Christmas
tree collection is held on Mondays and Fridays. This begins after Christmas and
continues into January. Trees must be free of debris and curbside by 7am. DO
NOT place trees in plastic tree bags.
Bush/Tree Trimming
Mahoning Township currently has a site available for
residents to dispose of brush from tree trimming. Residents may obtain a key to
our lower shed at the Municipal
Building on Thursday and
Friday 8am-3pm only, where they will be asked to sign a paper agreeing to the
terms for dumping.
No
commercial dumping is allowed. Privileges are for residents only.
No branches
over eight inches in diameter are allowed.
No grass,
leaves, thorns, garden waste, or root bulbs are allowed. Mulch is also
available from this site.
